Apple has released a major update to the Apple Support app for iPhone and iPad today. The update brings a new user interface, Dark Mode support, and much more. Apple Arcade is set to launch this fall with over 100 new, exclusive games and the company has made the notable hire of Nat Brown, an Xbox co-creator and former Valve engineer before the game service arrives. Reported by Variety, Nat Brown shared the news on Twitter that he started his new role at Apple this week. After his time at Microsoft and co-creating the Xbox, Brown has held a number of positions in the tech industry including VP of technology at Myspace....

Apple has announced that it will report earnings for the holiday period, and its next quarterly earnings call, on January 29. The announcement follows a major press release where Apple said it expects to miss its initial revenue guidance by about 8%. This earnings call will be very much heated as Apple has announced that it will significantly miss its originally stated guidance of $89-$83 billion in revenue, the first time it has revised guidance downwards in many, many, years....

According to a new report from Bloomberg, Apple has turned to a top lobbyist to help it engage on drone and aviation law in Washington D.C. This comes as Apple is reportedly exploring how to use satellites to send data directly to iPhones. The report explains that Apple has retained Lisa Ellman, a partner at Hogan Lovells, to lead its drone and aviation lobbying in Washington. Ellman leads the firm’s Unmanned Aircraft Systems practice and co-founded the Commercial Drone Alliance, while also working in the Obama administration and the Justice Department....

Apple’s upcoming wearable will appear on the cover of Vogue China’s November issue according to Business of Fashion. Several styles of the device will be worn by supermodel Liu Wen. This comes just a few weeks after Apple’s one-day-only special showing of the Apple Watch during Paris Fashion Week, proving that the company is taking a much more direct approach to the fashion world. Vogue China EiC Angelica Cheung reportedly met with Tim Cook and Jony Ive prior to the official reveal of the watch to learn about the process behind its design....

According to the report, Apple has just filed an application with the Indian government to open its own branded retail stores in the company. Apple has recently started sending surveys to iPhone users about how they use the USB charger that comes in the box. This comes ahead of the iPhone 12 announcement later this year and also rumors about Apple not including the USB charger and EarPods in the box for the first time. The survey asks users what they did with the USB charger of their previous iPhone after replacing it with a new model, so Apple is targeting people who were already iPhone users and recently bought a new one....

Apple plans to appeal a decision by Autorità Garante della Concorrenza e del Mercato to impose $1.2 million USD fine for not providing consumers with a two-year warranty mandatory under European Union law and the Italian Consumer Code. In addition to adding a channel for premium TV service Showtime in the U.S. and other markets today, Apple has also rolled out two new apps for markets abroad. Starting today, Apple TV users in Sweden will get access to SVT Play, an on-demand video service run by broadcaster Sveriges Television that already had an iOS app equivalent. Another service rolling out to Apple TV users abroad today is a channel for Norwegian public broadcaster NRK....

Apple has come under fire in New Zealand after it was revealed that it had paid no tax whatsoever in the country for the past decade, despite selling more than NZ$4.2B ($2.96B) worth of products in the country. The NZ Herald said that the company’s tax arrangements had been criticized by parties across the political spectrum. Green Party co-leader James Shaw said Apple was not paying its fair share. “It is absolutely extraordinary that they are able to get away with paying zero tax in this country....

The Apple Watch Series 4 officially added the ECG app in the United States last week, but details regarding an international rollout remain unclear. In a post on Twitter, Health Canada said that it has yet to receive an application from Apple to bring Apple Watch ECG support to the country… When asked whether or not it had received a medical device application for the Apple Watch Series 4 EKG functionality, Health Canada explained that it has not yet received any such application from Apple....
