Regional carriers are starting to announce availability for cellular models of Apple’s new Retina iPad mini just as the company today started offering the device to walk-in customers. Bluegrass Cellular announced today that it is now offering the iPad mini Wi-Fi Cellular models in-store and online. Available on the carrier’s website now starting at the usual $530 for the 16GB model, the carrier is also offering all three models (16GB, 32GB, and 64GB) on its no-contract “Freedom, Expanded” plan....

Update: Macworld and The Verge report that Apple will actually not begin rejecting apps that utilize hotkeys. According to a report from TUAW, Apple will soon begin rejecting OS X apps submitted to the Mac App Store that utilize hotkey functionality. The report does not cite a specific source, and app developers we have talked to seem to be unaware of the change. TUAW claimed Apple will only allow existing “hotkey apps”, and those released before June 1, to issue future bug fixes....

At the April Apple event, Apple released a teaser for the highly-anticipated second season of Apple TV+ hit comedy Ted Lasso. Today, the company is releasing the official trailer ahead of season two’s debut on July 23rd. At its September event today, Apple has officially unveiled the successor to the iPhone XR. The new iPhone 11 packs a dual camera and more. Read on for all of the details. After accidentally leaking the existence of Final Cut Pro 10.3 on its trial website, Apple has officially unveiled the updated release at today’s Hello, Again MacBook Pro keynote. The update, which will available to download today on the Mac App Store, adds support for the Touch Bar in the just-announced 13″ and 15″ MacBook Pro. The update also brings refinements to the app’s revolutionary Magic Timeline. Apple’s Susan Prescott demonstrated editing a project timeline via the Touch Bar with timeline displays, and contextual controls....

Apple Uptown in Minneapolis closed temporarily in March due to COVID-19, but unlike over 90% of Apple’s other stores in the US, it will not reopen when conditions improve. Apple confirmed to the Star Tribune that the store has closed permanently. While some Apple Stores had reopened when protests broke out due to the killing of George Floyd in May, Apple Uptown near the site of the incident was still temporarily closed....

Apple Watch Series 3 with LTE has worked on the four major U.S. carriers since it launched last September, and recently the cellular model has started picking up support for regional carriers around the country as well. C-Spire, the sixth largest carrier in the country and the largest privately owned carrier, officially announced Apple Watch Series 3 with built-in cellular availability today. And to promote the launch, C-Spire is knocking off 50% from the price of the Apple Watch when purchased with an iPhone....

Apple is certainly not thinking small when it comes to China, with 25 new retail stores promised within a two-year period, and its latest soon-to-open store in Hangzhou features a massive mural covering the entire front of the store. The store is due to open on Saturday, January 24th, the second of five new stores Angela Ahrendts said would be opening by the Chinese New Year on February 19th....

Apple today announced plans to build a new campus in North Austin, representing a $1 billion investment. It will also add thousands of new jobs across the United States by 2023, with new offices set up in Seattle, San Diego, and Culver City. Apple also announced plans to expand its presence in Pittsburgh, New York, and Colorado. Apple says it added 6,000 US jobs in 2018 alone and employs 90,000 across all 50 states (most are retail employees)....

Update: AllThingsD got its hands on some better images (above) and a statement from Apple on the new store (below): San Francisco Chronicle reports today that Apple has now submitted plans to open a new store in San Francisco’s Union Square. The new location would apparently replace Apple’s old retail location just a few streets away at Stockton and Ellis. The new building is said to give Apple around 45% more space than its old San Fran retail location and will apparently occupy a building formerly home to Levi’s in Union Square at Stockton and Post Streets....

Last week, we reported that Apple, will soon kickoff a trade-in-program for third-party or counterfeit USB power adapters in its retail stores and select authorized resellers. The program will allow anyone with an unofficial USB power adapter for iOS Devices to exchange that adapter for an Apple-built unit at a discounted price of $10 dollars. The program comes in response to a couple of controversial situations in which people in China reportedly passed away or became injured due to faulty, counterfeit charging adapters…...

As the launch of its premium subscription service, Apple TV+ nears closer, news about another original show has surfaced. The latest is an adaptation of the award-winning Israeli TV show, False Flag. As reported by Deadline, Apple is working on a remake of Keshet International’s Hebrew-language TV show, False Flag. The thriller and was created by Amit Cohen and Maria Feldman. Here’s a summary of the show’s first season: False Flag was an award winner at Series Mania and was available on Hulu as well as internationally....

Apple today has informed employees of significant changes to how iPhones are sold via AT&T and Verizon Wireless, according to sources. As we reported last month, Apple has indicated that iPhones sold via AT&T at both physical Apple Retail Stores and on the Apple Online Store will move exclusively to Next financing plans this month, in June. This means that a customer who wants to buy a new iPhone on AT&T will no longer be able to do so on a subsidy…...

Apple announced today on its Investor News page that CEO Tim Cook, like in previous years, is scheduled once again to speak at the upcoming Goldman Sachs Technology and Internet Conference. Apple will make a live webcast available for anyone who wants to listen to live-streaming audio from the conference call. Cook’s talk is scheduled for 7:15 a.m. PST on Feb. 12 and will be available to stream from Apple’s website....

The latest film that Apple TV+ has picked up is Ridley Scott’s “KitBag.” The movie centers around Napoleon’s origin story and his “swift, ruthless climb to emperor.” Joaquin Phoenix is slated to play the French ruler. Reported by Deadline, “Kitbag” is a passion project from Ridley Scott that will leverage his company Scott Free Productions. Apple has agreed to both finance and help produce the movie with work starting in the UK in early 2022....

Apple’s flagship original series The Morning Show is stopping production for two weeks as a precaution against possible coronavirus spread, reports Deadline. This is just one more part of the Apple ecosystem that is now on pause as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. The Morning Show is easily Apple’s most popular original series to date, and is currently scheduled for its second season to air sometime near the end of the year....

Apple this evening has released minor updates to iMovie and Final Cut Pro for Mac. The updates bring the former to version 10.1.6 and the latter to version 10.3.4, including primarily bug fixes and performance improvements for both Apple quietly issued the updates tonight, with quick and to the point change logs. The company says the update for iMovie improves stability of the app when updating libraries originally created with previous versions of the software....

Apple launched watchOS 6.2.5 to the public last month, which enabled the ECG app for Apple Watch users in Saudi Arabia. And now Apple Watch ECG may be coming to Brazil and Japan officially. Last week, Brazil’s Health Regulatory Agency (ANVISA), which is equivalent to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), has approved Apple’s ECG app in the country. The Brazilian government made an official statement mentioning that both the electrocardiogram feature and the Irregular heart rhythm notifications can now be enabled in Brazil....
