Apple has shared that it’s won two more awards for its Apple TV+ original content. Setting streaming records for winning Daytime Emmys in the first year since launch is Ghostwriter as well as Peanuts in Space. Apple detailed the latest achievements in a blog post and highlighted that it has garnered over two dozen “wins and accolades” and 71 nominations for Apple TV+ original content since the service launched under a year ago....

In addition to the Apple Events channel for viewing the WWDC keynote returning last night, Apple TV has added a NatGeo TV station from the National Geographic Channel and Nat Geo Wild channel. Apple’s latest channel includes next day full episodes of shows and documentaries covering science, history, culture, and more. The new NatGeo TV channel on Apple TV includes clips you can watch for free, but the app does require signing in with an active cable subscription to unlock the full experience including viewing full episodes the day after they air....

Apple has pushed out an update to its professional audio software that introduces native integration with the Alchemy softsynth that was acquired as part of the company’s buyout of Camel Audio at the beginning of this year. Alchemy has been added to both Logic Pro X 10.2 and MainStage 3.2, while the mobile Logic Remote has gained new controls to support the synthesizer. Another week, another report regarding Apple’s latest original content efforts. Ron Moore, most famously known for his work on Star Trek, is reportedly working with Apple on a new Sci-Fi series. Variety reports that Moore is currently filling out the cast with Joel Kinnaman, Michael Dorman, and Sarah Jones on board. The show will be written and executive produced by Moore, with Matt Wolpert, and Ben Nedivi. Maril Davis will serve as executive producer on behalf of Sony Pictures Television alongside Moore’s Tall Ship Productions....

Apple has brought some great updates to Safari with macOS Big Sur, including a new design, support for WebP images, HDR videos, and more. Now, the company is teaming up with Google, Mozilla, and Microsoft to improve universal browser extensions for Safari, Chrome, Firefox, and Edge. In June last year, Apple added support for WebExtension API in the macOS version of Safari. The latest in-development original content that will make its way to Apple TV+ includes the drama Palmer starring Justin Timberlake and a drama/thriller series called Echo 3 that is based on the Israeli show When Heroes Fly. Reported by Vulture, Apple has acquired the rights to a new drama that features Justin Timberlake in the lead role: Joining Timberlake as co-stars are Juno Temple and June Squibb with the film directed by Fisher Stevens....

According to analytics firm DisplaySearch, Apple has officially passed HP (by nearly 4 million units) to become the top PC manufacturer worldwide with a 21.1% share. However, these numbers are somewhat controversial given the fact it includes iPad sales in the stats, a device that makes up 80% of Apple’s total PC shipments in Q2. The research notes tablet shipments are up almost “70% Q/Q and over 400% Y/Y”, while notebook shipments were down 2% Q/Q....

In addition to the improvements to the consumer iMac today, Apple has also made some very minor adjustments to the iMac Pro lineup. The base model iMac Pro now includes a 10-core Intel Xeon processor, but unfortunately, the iMac Pro misses out on the new nano-texture glass option. With today’s changes, Apple has dropped the 8-core iMac Pro from the lineup completely, and instead moved the 10-core iMac Pro down into that spot....

UPDATE 12/6: With the release of watchOS 5.1.2 and iOS 12.1.1, Apple included a new verification that makes this workaround ineffective. ECG will only be available for models of Apple Watch purchased in the US. One of the new features of Apple Watch Series 4 is the ability to take an Electrocardiogram of the user’s heart through a series of new sensors on the back of the device and on the revised digital crown....

I’m gonna take a break from Apple to address an issue I find extremely important. I believe the parties are slowly dividing America. Lawmakers are voting for the opinion of their party rather than their true beliefs. Today we saw this in full effect. Democrats voted against the bailout today, not necessarily because they didn’t agree with it, but because it was proposed by George Bush. They figured that because George Bush has made mistakes in the past, he has no chance of doing anything right, and subsequently voted no to the bailout that could’ve helped a ton of people....

A translated report this morning from China Times (via Macotakara) appears to claim the iPhone 5S will be the first device from Apple to include fingerprint sensor and NFC technology. According to the report, Taiwanese company Chipbond will provide the integrated touch display driver and other components necessary to implement the technology on the next-generation iPhone. While details of the translated report remain sketchy, it seems to suggest that Apple will use the fingerprint tech that it acquired in its AuthenTec purchase as a security feature for NFC payments:...
