Apple has taken over the front of its homepage to highlight a new section on its website rounding up photos taken around the world by the iPhone 6/6 Plus’s camera. The website highlights several photographs taken across the globe, from places like Halong Bay (Vietnam), Pamplona (Spain), and The Cairngorms (Scotland). Alongside each piece of media, Apple includes a brief blurb describing the photo as well as the name of the application in which the photo or video was taken....

On one hand, the agreement dangled the loss of “future business opportunities that Apple and/or its affiliates may present to you” as a potential consequence of violating or not signing the agreement. On the other hand, signing and following it could lead to months-long delays in making accessories like cases available, during the time of year when those cases were most needed and demanded by customers. In the lead-up to new iPhone and iPad device releases, leaked enclosures and information are frequently followed by early case designs....

Apple last week confirmed that Apple TV+ will launch to the public in over 100 countries on November 1st. Following that announcement, the first Apple TV+ original TV show has premiered this weekend at the Tribeca TV Festival. The Apple TV+ original “Dickinson” premiered last night at the Tribeca TV Festival, with stars Hailee Steinfeld and Jane Krakowski, and show runner and creator Alena Smith, on hand to discuss the project....

During today’s football games, Apple released its first TV ad with the same affinity for the ‘Midas model’. The videos were filmed by iPhone owners in four different cities across the world: Anchorage, AK; Haleiwa, HI; Salar de Uyuni, Boliva; and two from Hewiia, Papua New Guinea. Apple debuted the award-winning campaign earlier this year with a handful of photos and videos taken on the latest iPhone model and has continued to update it with new entries over the past four months....

The last executive from the Ron Johnson and Steve Jobs era of Apple Retail is leaving the company, according to several sources. Bob Bridger, Apple’s Vice President of Retail Real Estate, told colleagues at a meeting last Thursday that he will soon be retiring from Apple without specifying additional reasons for his departure. As head of Apple’s retail real estate efforts, Bridger has been in charge of locating new Apple Store locations, striking lease deals, and with his construction background, building up new stores…...

Now is a good time to buy the Apple Watch. A new version with GPS called Series 2 came out in September, and the original model was updated with a speed boost and a new name: Series 1. Earlier this year, before the announcement of the iPhone 12, Apple surveyed some users about how they use the USB power adapter that used to come in the iPhone box. The company is once again asking for the opinion of its consumers, this time to find out if iPhone users are unsatisfied with Face ID and if they use the USB cable that comes with every iPhone. Among multiple questions, the survey asks if the user is not satisfied with Face ID — and if the answer is no, there are some alternatives to share details with Apple....

tvOS 10 updates have included new user features like smarter Siri, HomeKit support, dark mode, and the new TV app with Single Sign-on so far. With tvOS 10.0.1, first released back in October as a minor bug fix and security improvement, Apple quietly included support for a handful of new features to improve accessories. The features, which include App Launch, new accessibility features and more, aren’t documented publicly, but specs were recently made available to accessory makers in Apple’s Made-for-iPhone/iPad/Apple TV licensing program....

Apple released updates to its iWork suite for macOS today. The new versions include a new library of 500 professionally drawn shapes, more efficient auto-correction and text replacement options, added stock and currency features, improved language support, and more. Today’s release follows a stability and performance improvement release last April. Apple recently voiced concerns over the potential sale of its customer data as part of RadioShack’s bankruptcy filing. As an authorized reseller of Apple’s products, RadioShack is sitting on a collection of customer data of Apple product owners. According to Law360, Apple has formally objected to any data on its product sales through RadioShack being made available for sale citing the reseller agreement between the two companies and its interest of protecting personal data....

While we didn’t see a new Apple Watch at WWDC, it’s still very possible that it’ll be revealed this fall, alongside all other Apple hardware that we typically see. One of the changes that could be made is the removal of physical buttons, in favor of solid state ones. Fast Company reports that Apple will replace the physical Side button and Digital Crown, in favor of touch-sensitive solid state buttons. The report notes that the Digital Crown still physically scrolls in order to navigate through content, but the button press itself will be simulated through Apple’s Taptic Engine....

As is the case with many other Apple products, AppleCare+ for the Apple Watch will be offered at the time of purchase within physical Apple Retail Stores and the Apple Online Store. If Apple does indeed replace an Apple Watch under AppleCare+, there will likely be a deductible price for replacement, which will be far less than replacement pricing for customers without the AppleCare+ plan. While the $999 price for the Apple Watch Edition sounds high, it should be noted that it’s around 10% of the product’s base cost, which tracks with AppleCare pricing for the $2999 Mac Pro, which retails for $249 (but can be had for less from resellers)....

Although Apple has said that the Apple Watch will need to be charged nightly, the company has not disclosed any details on how long the wearable’s battery will last. For the first time, people with knowledge of the Apple Watch’s development have provided us with the specific performance targets Apple wants to achieve for the Apple Watch battery, but the actual numbers may fall short of those targets. According to our sources, Apple opted to use a relatively powerful processor and high-quality screen for the Apple Watch, both of which contribute to significant power drain....

Three years ago, Apple was found guilty of anticompetitive behavior centered around ebook pricing and price-fixing. The case was in limbo for years as Apple appealed and tried to fight the ruling, but earlier this year the Supreme Court declined to hear the company’s appeal, putting Apple on the hook for $450 million. Law firm Hagens Berman today issued a press release revealing that payouts will begin being sent to affected customers tomorrow, June 21st....

Apple will be celebrating Earth Day on April 22nd in its retail stores and on its Cupertino, California campus, according to multiple Apple employees. Earth Day is an annual day of focus on environmental protection and initiatives that has taken place in several countries since 1970… Each year, the Earth Day organization focuses the April 22nd celebrations on certain environmental topics. 2014’s topic is known as “Green Cities,” and this is a focus on more environmentally efficient buildings, transportation, and cities....

Apple’s summer “Apple Camp” program for students will expand to become a year-round program beginning in September, according to a message from Apple Retail head Angela Ahrendts to employees this week. Ahrendts also noted that field trips and programs for teachers will also become year-round. Here’s Ahrendts message to employees on the matter, per Apple Retail employees: Apple’s retail website for students still lists Apple Camp as returning during the summer of 2016, but this page will likely be updated in the coming weeks to reflect the new strategy....

Over the last several years, Apple has gradually been expanding the ways people can tune into its various keynotes. This year, Apple is further expanding its efforts and will stream the September 10th iPhone 11 event on YouTube. This marks the first time that Apple has live streamed one of its keynotes on YouTube, and it dramatically expands the availability of the stream across all platforms. With the iPhone XS event last year, Apple offered live video on Twitter, but as of now, it’s unclear whether that will be the case this year for this year’s iPhone 11 event....

Apple usually comes up with creative ways to celebrate Earth Day each spring and this year, it’s going to release an original animated film starring the voice of Meryl Streep based on the children’s book, Here We Are: Notes for Living on Planet Earth by Oliver Jeffers. Apple has also signed Julia Louis-Dreyfus to a content deal for upcoming TV+ properties. The entry-level 13-incher sports a 1.7 GHz processor, 4GB RAM and 128GB of flash storage while the more expensive 13-inch MacBook Air doubles the storage to 256GB....
