The electronics repair site iFixit says that after it published its detailed teardown of the upcoming Apple TV hardware, Apple reached out to say that the company had violated the developer agreement and revoked the account that was used to obtain the device. The iFixit app, which was previously available on the App Store for free, was tied to that developer account, meaning the app’s listing was removed along with the account....

Bloomberg has issued a tweet that reports that Apple’s Senior Vice President of Internet Software and Services has terminated Richard Williamson, the executive in charge of Apple’s iOS 6 Maps application. Bloomberg has also posted a headline to its terminal that indicates this. Williamson, according to his Linkedin profile, was Senior Director, iOS Platform Services at Apple, Inc. In a new press release today, Apple announced that it has partnered with the nonprofit organization 100cameras to give students in Chicago the new iPhone 11. Through this partnership, the students are taught how to express themselves through visual storytelling with the iPhone. The iPhones were distributed to students from DRW College Prep, as part of a course on using photography to tell the story of “growing up in Chicago at a time when its history is being erased by things like gun violence and gentrification....

The Apple Watch may not be available in Italy at launch, but Apple will be showcasing its new device at the upcoming Salone del Mobile in Milan on Friday. According to the design-centric magazine Wallpaper (via Tim Bradshaw), Apple is planning a one-day only preview and try-on event at the design exhibition on April 17th. Apple has started sending out emails to members of the AppleSeed beta testing program informing them of ongoing maintenance to iCloud Drive. According to the message, due to the in-development nature of the updated iCloud backend, users should expect to see more downtime than they experienced with older versions of OS X. Unlike the developer previews, however, Apple notes that these outages are not likely affect files stored in iCloud. Twice previously the company has wiped all data uploaded to iCloud Drive....

Slice Intelligence, which monitors purchase receipts in the email inboxes of a panel of two million online shoppers, has published a chart showing that the majority of Apple Watch orders were placed on the first day of pre-orders, and have since fallen to far smaller numbers than some analysts have predicted. Quartz tech editor Dan Frommer notes that while the company’s data shows that almost 1.5 million U.S. orders were placed on day one (up from its initial estimate of one million), subsequent orders have typically been running at under 30,000 per day – compared to the 100,000 per day globally needed to meet some predictions … It could even be said that Apple Watch sales fell dramatically after the first hour, a separate chart posted by the company on its own website showing that 800,000 orders – more than half of the first day’s total – were placed within an hour of online presales opening....

Most notably, it seems as if many are being prompted over and over to enter their iCloud credentials within iOS....

Apple may be battling one branch of U.S. law enforcement on a terrorist-related issue, but CNN reports that the company is working closely with another on a broader fight against ISIS. Apple is one of six leading tech and media companies offering assistance to the Department of Justice in countering ISIS messaging and posts on social media.
