Apple has released minor updates to its iWork suite of productivity apps for both iOS and OS X today. Pages, Keynote, and Numbers for iPhone, iPad, and Mac have all received new versions with bug fixes and performance improvements. iWork for iOS includes the same boiler plate release notes: “This update contains stability improvements and bug fixes.” And over on the Mac App Store, iWork for OS X provides similar release notes....

Apple’s new official dock for Apple Watch, the Apple Watch Magnetic Charging Dock, is now available to buy in Apple Stores and online. This particular image is from the Berlin store in Germany. In the US, the first-party Apple Watch dock costs $79. The Apple store website says the product will be available in US retail for in-store pickup starting this Friday, the 20th November. As indicated by the leaked photos from last night, the dock allows the watch to either lay flat or sit upright in Nightstand mode thanks to the magnetic attachment....

Apple achieved its highest ever market share in rival Samsung’s market of South Korea in Q4 2017. Apple’s share of the market climbed 3.3% year-on-year, while Samsung’s own share of the market fell by 9% in the same period … BusinessKorea reports Strategy Analytics figures showing that Apple’s share hit 28.3%, behind Samsung’s 55%. Korean company LG saw its own share almost double from 8.3% in Q4 2016 to 15.7% in Q4 2017....

Apple released a beta today of ProRes Raw for Windows that brings compatibility for the codec to several Adobe apps on Microsoft’s platform. Apple detailed the beta release in a short support document today along with a link to the software. Servant is one of the most popular shows on Apple TV+, with its second season now available on Apple’s streaming platform. This week, the company announced that Servant has been nominated for the 2021 TV Choice Awards in the Best Drama Series category. The story of Servant revolves around Leanne, a nanny hired by Dorothy and Sean Turner to take care of a baby doll. The first season aired exclusively on Apple TV+ in November 2019, while the second season premiered in January 2019....

A new report compiled by Parker Associates and discovered by Gigaom revealed that the Apple TV has lost some U.S. market share to competitors like the Roku and Chromecast last year, causing it to become only the third most popular device in the category. According to the report, Google’s Chromecast and the Roku streaming device each sold around 3.8 million units in 2013—though the figure is more impressive in the case of the Chromecast, which was only introduced in the second half of the year....

After the last major Clips update, which included support for iPhone X and a handful of new filters, today Apple has pushed a new update for the app. Albeit not as exciting, the update includes a new poster for Chinese New Year and a few other minor changes. The update also improves browsing and recording selfies on iPhone X, and fixes an issue with the Top Secret poster animation. Clips allows you to create videos with a very simple and easy to use interface....

Apple has updated its Privacy website with details about how the company uses your data to serve the newest iOS 9 and iPhone 6s features, like Apple Pay, Apple News and Hey Siri. Consistent with Apple’s messaging, they reiterate how everything they make is designed to store as little personal information as possible with anonymity wherever possible. Contrary to other reports, the Tim Cook cover letter fronting the Apple Privacy page is not new and has been posted on the website for some time....

In a support article posted overnight, Apple announced that it will repair any iPhones, Macs, iPads and iPods that were directly damaged by the devastating heavy floods that swept through Japan this month. Apple expressed its sympathies for anyone who was affected by the flooding, which has tragically caused hundreds of deaths. The support naturally goes against Apple’s standard repair policies, which strictly exclude water damage. Apple says that it will attempt to repair any damaged products for free, including via courier delivery (via Macotakara)....

Apple subsidiary FileMaker has announced today that it is rebranding to Claris, a name that likely sounds familiar if you’ve been an Apple user since the early days. While the core FileMaker product will remain the same, the company itself is changing its name to Claris International. Claris was a 1987 spin-off of Apple responsible for things like MacWrite, MacPaint, and FileMaker. In 1998, Apple brought all those initiatives in-house, except for FileMaker, which remained a separate Apple subsidiary....

Apple has filed a lawsuit against Ericsson over the licensing fees for technology patents related to LTE wireless connectivity, Reuters reported today. According to Apple, the company has not infringed any of the patents in question, which it says are not essential to the LTE networking standard. Ericsson calculates its royalty fees based on the price of a complete handset rather than only the component that integrates the patented technology....

In what has become a never-ending patent battle, a federal appeals court on Tuesday ordered that the Apple v. Samsung case be sent back to a lower court. As noted by CNET, the district court will decide whether or not to hold another damage retrial or settle the case in another fashion. The Samsung v. Apple case will be sent back to where it originally started back in 2012, the Northern District Court of California....

While Apple Watch has been gaining in mainstream popularity for a while now, a new report from Quartz today offers a deeper look at one industry where the device has specifically started to catch on. The report highlights how workers in the service industry use the device to stay connected when they wouldn’t otherwise be able to… Quartz explains that many who work on their feet everyday are using the Apple Watch to stay connected since they aren’t generally able to have their iPhone with them....

Apple just released the latest software update for both the second-generation and third-generation of the Apple TV, version 5.0.1 (9B206f). Just (barely) in time for the holidays, Walmart.com now carries the Apple Watch Sport in a variety of colors –as long as it is either space gray or silver. The US’s largest retailer won’t carry the Watch in stores and currently the price for the Sport is the non-discounted $349-399 retail which is $100 more than Best Buy and bestbuy.com where it starts at just $249. Best Buy, Target, B&H and others have been offering steep discounts on the Apple Watch sparking speculation that Apple is aggressively trying to move inventory for the holidays....

UPDATE: Apple’s site has reverted to the current icons present in iOS 7 beta. Apple has quietly changed some of the icons on its official iOS 7 website, making notable changes to the Weather, Passbook, and Reminders apps. iOS 7’s icons, which have been subject to much scrutiny and disapproval from various designers, have been one of the largest complaints about iOS 7 so far. The icons, which can currently only be viewed on Apple’s site using a mobile device, most notably show a completely redesigned weather app icon, ditching the clouds and sun found in the current iOS 7 beta, in favor of the live temperature, something users have been waiting for for years....

Apple today released an update to its mobile presentation software that enables support for an Apple Watch-based remote application. The Keynote Remote app, which will allow users to control their slides from their wrists, was first mentioned during Apple’s October 2014 event. The Cupertino company also pushed out updates to several of its other mobile apps, fixing bugs and improving stability. The updated apps include Pages, Numbers, Remote, and Beats Music....

Apple has long marketed the Apple Watch as a health device and today we’re seeing yet another instance of the device being put to good use. 28-year-old Apple Watch user James Green tweeted over the weekend that the “stupid lil wrist computer” saved his life. Using the third-party application HeartWatch, Green was alerted of an abnormally high heart rate that prompted him to seek medical attention. The app monitors heart rate constantly throughout the day and sends a notification if it goes below or above a certain threshold....
