As American Heart Month continues, Apple has a heartwarming story to share about how an anniversary Apple Watch gift quite possibly saved the life of a 58-year-old man named Bob March. In a letter addressed to a medical team performing a heart procedure on Bob, he thanked the staff performing the operation and cited the Apple Watch for getting him to the operation table in the first place. The heart procedure took place last fall shortly after Lori March gifted her husband Bob with the Apple Watch for their 17th anniversary....

Two more of Apple’s smaller mall locations are set to relocate to significantly larger spaces this year, according to a document filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Both stores are due for renovations, having retained largely original appearances since opening in 2007. Speculation about Apple’s expansion in Lehigh Valley first began this past March, when the closure of both Ann Taylor and J. Crew locations adjacent to Apple’s storefront were announced....

Apple is apparently taking legal action against a company called Prepear, which is an app and service that makes it easier for people to meal plan and find new recipes. Apple’s legal complaint? The pear-shaped logo used by Prepear, seen above, is too similar to the Apple logo. According to the founders of Prepear, which is a spin-off of the Super Healthy Kids service, Apple is opposing the trademark application for Prepear and demanding that the company change the pear-shaped logo....

Apple TV+ is set to launch three separate new docuseries over the coming months with “Tiny World” narrated by Paul Rudd, “Becoming You” narrated by Olivia Colman, and “Earth at Night in Color” narrated by Tom Hiddleston. Reported by Variety, the new nature-focused Apple TV+ docuseries narrated Paul Rudd will debut on October 2. “Becoming You” will also launch with six episodes when it lands on November 3. “Tiny World,” narrated by Paul Rudd, premieres its first six episodes the streaming platform on Oct....

Apple will not receive follow-on revenue from most of its new telecom partners according to SEC filing Form 8-K for APPLE IN. This is a very interesting development for several reasons. It means that Apple is stuck in their original agreements with AT&T, O2, Orange, Tmobile, etc. It also means that the old model wasn’t optimal for Apple and it is going for a new model where it is no longer taking a cut of monthly revenues....

Apple updated its support site today to give customers the option to initiate screensharing sessions with AppleCare representatives. Previously AppleCare reps could ask a customer to begin screensharing if they thought it would be useful in helping solve the issue, but as of today customers can now decide whether to use the utility during support calls. Customers have always been able to request screensharing, at which point the AppleCare representative would instruct them to download an application from Apple’s site that facilitates the connection....

Apple TV+ today announced that the service’s animated musical series Central Park will be getting a third season. The second season of the cartoon will debut on June 25. The first three episodes of Central Park season two will arrive on Apple TV+ on June 25, with the remainder of the season rolling out weekly. A release date for season three has not yet been announced. As it is a musical, each episode of Central Park features three or four original songs....

We mentioned last week that an Apple TV software update would allow owners to stream content from a friend’s Apple TV box elsewhere, and AllThingsD now has a little more info on how this will work. It’s yet another move by Apple to embracing the cloud, which is perhaps also why the rumored 128GB iPhone 5S didn’t make an appearance: local storage is rapidly becoming old-hat. The key part is that they will be able to tell an Apple TV box they don’t own to stream the media they do own, directly from the cloud....

Similar to iPhone X and Face ID, Apple Watch can also gain similar notification privacy settings by flipping a few switches. Asymco’s Horace Dediu has put together a couple of charts showing that while the number of visitors to Apple’s retail stores continues to climb, the rate of growth is flattening off. The underlying reason appears to be a slow-down in the rate at which Apple is opening new stores, as the average number of visitors per store has remained stable for the past three years … Dediu also observes that the average spend-per-visitor has remained pretty constant at around $50 – Apple’s latest SEC filing shows that average revenue per store dipped marginally, from £51....

Apple Stores in China were closed on February 1st in response to the coronavirus, with the company stating that they would remain so through February 9. Store webpages say that they will re-open on Monday, but a memo to local staff from retail and people head Deidre O’Brien suggests this is now unlikely. The Chinese government had suggested February 10 as the date on which businesses would resume operations, but it appears Apple may take a two-stage approach…...

Apple today has rolled out an update to the Apple Support app on iOS. The update brings the app to version 2.3 and includes region and country expansions and more. Apple says the Apple Support app for iOS is now available in 20 new countries and regions. While the company has not specified the exact countries and regions in which the app is now available, it does note that new languages are also included in today’s update....

Apple appears to be putting its ducks in a row ahead of major Apple TV changes. Alongside last night’s changes to the Apple Online Store to promote Valentine’s Day specials, Apple added an entire Apple TV section. The Apple TV is now promoted as a full product line alongside Macs, iPads, iPods, and iPhones. Previously, the Apple TV did not have its own section, and it was simply tucked away as an accessory in the dwindling iPod department....

Apple released an update to its iWork suite of applications today. No not that update. Today’s is ‘just’ for the current ’09 version which is starting to feel long in the tooth in 2011. With the Mac App Store opening in less than 24 hours and iWork applications shown on the mockups of the store, it would seem likely that a totally new version of iWork is in the cards....

The Apple Watch App Store dedicated to iPhone apps that include WatchKit apps is going live ahead of the new device’s launch tomorrow, BuzzFeed says. Apple first added the Apple Watch App Store in iOS 8.2 as part of the Apple Watch companion app, but until now the section has displayed a coming soon page. The Watch’s App Store is available now. Apple appears to have given BuzzFeed an early look at what the Apple Watch App Store will include on day one....

There’s certainly a benefit to Apple’s use of sapphire crystal on Apple Watch.
