J.D. Power, which previously awarded the iPhone highest in consumer satisfaction for smartphones eight years in a row, today released a report that puts Apple on top for customer satisfaction by carrier. While measure four key metrics— performance, physical design, features, and ease of operation— across the four major carriers, J.D. Power found Apple and the iPhone’s overall score ranked #1 for Sprint, Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile. However, in most cases, it’s only beating Samsung by a small margin....

According to a new report from Variety, Apple TV+ has signed a new first-look deal with Idris Elba and his Green Door production company. Through the deal, Elba and his production company will produce original series and features for Apple TV+, the report explains. Elba founded the Green Door production company in 2013 and used it to create a variety of shows and films: Elba is well-known for his roles in films such as Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw and his work on TV shows such as The Wire on HBO....

Apple has announced the latest update to its augmented reality platform with ARKit 3. The latest release brings some major new features like people occlusion, motion capture, multiple face tracking, simultaneous front and back camera use, and more. Earlier this week the first standalone Apple Watch bands began shipping to pre-order customers including Link Bracelet and Leather Loop, and today shipment times for both sizes and all four colors of the Leather Loop band have improved from sometime in June to 2-4 weeks suggesting new purchases could be delivered as soon as late May. Both sizes of all six variations of the Sport band now show promised ship dates of 2-4 weeks rather than the more general May delivery date....

China could see the first Apple TV being launched in the country in more than 15 years, according to Chinese blog Sina and Weibo leaker Voooolks. Last week, Apple announced the second-generation Apple TV 4K with the A12 chip inside it, a redesigned Siri Remote, and HDMI 2.1 support in its “Spring Loaded” event. As reported by Sina, Apple has received regulatory approval for the set-top box in China, granted by the General Administration of Press and Publication along with the State Administration of Radio, Film, and Television....

In addition to other announcements, Apple today has unveiled the latest version of macOS in form of macOS 10.13. The update will be available to the public later this year and includes new features, interface tweaks, performance improvements, and more. macOS High Sierra cares a focus on deep technologies and refinements, according to Craig Federighi, with Apple working to refine macOS 10.12 Sierra with the update. Safari Apple introduced the latest version of macOS by outlining improvements to Siri that come as part of the update....

Bob Kupbens, the Vice President in charge of Apple’s growing online retail business, resigned from the company last week to take on a new position elsewhere, according to multiple sources. Kupbens joined Apple in 2014 and has been in charge of all online-based Apple retail initiatives, ranging from the recently redesigned online store, its integration into the main Apple website, the online iPhone upgrade program and newfound connectivity with Apple’s physical retail stores....

According to several reports fresh off the wire, the International Trade Commission has just ruled in favour of Apple in the company’s long-running attempt to get the courts to implement a sales ban on certain infringing Samsung devices. The case stems back to a countersuit that Apple filed in 2011 following a lawsuit launched by Samsung that claimed several Apple device’s infringed its patents. Fosspatents reports: The ITC found that Samsung does indeed infringe on the two patents asserted in the original case, including one often referred to as the “Steve Jobs” patent that covers touch screen features and another that detects when a headset or other device is plugged into an iPhone....

As awards season is ending, Apple TV+ continues to announce its catalog for 2021 and beyond. Hello Tomorrow! starring Emmy Award winner Billy Crudup has been ordered as an Apple Original. This new 10-episode, half-hour drama will star Emmy and Critics Choice Award winner Billy Crudup from The Morning Show, who will also serve as an executive producer. Jonathan Entwistle (The End of the F***ing World) is attached to direct the series, which comes from MRC Television....

Bluetooth support is not present within the Apple TV operating system (iOS), but Apple’s next major operating system, iOS 5, will turn on this bluetooth support. Apple is positioning this bluetooth support mainly for keyboards, but perhaps the bluetooth Apple TV will be able to connect to bluetooth iPads, iPhones, and iPod touches....

Apple has updated its TestFlight beta testing application for iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV to version 3.0. The update brings support for automatic updates, as well as stability improvements and bug fixes. The addition of automatic updates in TestFlight is a notable improvement. This means that when you’re beta testing an application, the app will automatically update whenever a new version is released by the developer. Previously, you’d have to go to the TestFlight app and manually install updates....

Apple has released WWDC 2.1 for iOS bringing with it the ability to download session videos. Previously, viewing session videos required an active connection to the Internet and watching videos over again required a stream as well. The update also includes bug fixes according to the release notes. WWDC for iPhone and iPad is available for free on the App Store. WWDC app updated and includes Swift as the first app in the App Store to do so....

Apple’s legal battle with Nokia looks to have seen some setback, with staff at the US International Trade Commission (ITC) telling the judge in the case that Apple’s patent allegations are ‘unfounded’. “The evidence will not establish a violation” of Apple patent rights, the staff, which acts on behalf of the public as a third party in the case, said in a pre-hearing memo released yesterday. Bloomberg tells us the case will begin before Judge Charles Bullock today....

Hello Sunshine is focused on celebrating female storytelling, so that should certainly play a role in the new music competition....
