Apple has announced today that it is further expanding the availability of the Apple Watch Series 3 with Cellular. The company says the device will be available next week in four new countries… First off, the Apple Watch Series 3 with Cellular will be available in the United Arab Emirates with support from the Etisalat network. The device will start at Dh1,364, according to Gulf News: Also next week, the Apple Watch Series 3 with LTE will be made available in Mexico....

Apple is rolling out the option to automatically download macOS updates starting with macOS Sierra today. The major Mac software update was released at the end of September, and starting today Apple will begin automatically downloading the update on Macs that haven’t updated yet (via The Loop). Mac users will still need to manually allow the software update to be installed; the only change here is that the update can download automatically then prompt you to install....

According to a new report from The Irish Times this week, Apple is set to be a bit more transparent about its finances in Ireland. The report says that Apple has changed its operational status in Ireland and will now be required to file full annual accounts. This comes after the EU ruled that Apple’s arrangement with Ireland was illegal and ordered the company to pay $14.3 billion in back taxes....

Apple Park Visitor Center is always home to the most unique product displays of any Apple Store location in the world. Since opening in 2017, the store has featured several exquisitely detailed installations showcasing the latest Apple Watch bands and accessories. For the launch of Apple Watch Series 5, iPhone 11, and 11 Pro on September 20, new displays arrived to treat visitors. Three of Apple Park Visitor Center’s ten Avenue displays sport all-new designs....

We’ve been told that Apple will be holding one of their overnights – which seem to be a weekly thing lately – at their chain of retail stores next Tuesday night. The overnight is being held in order to setup new displays in each store’s glass front or within the actual store setup. Apple Stores currently have large book displays in the back of their stores. These books are a part of an Apple partnership with the Teach for America Foundation....

Apple will offer Storefront service at its retail stores in England starting this Friday. The temporary pickup format will allow Apple to remain open and continue serving customers in a limited capacity during the launch of the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max, even as England enters a new national lockdown. England’s COVID-19 lockdown begins on November 5 and extends until at least December 2. The new restrictions specify that all non-essential stores will close to walk-in customers, but retailers may still offer delivery and “click-and-collect” services....

Update: Apple has published a white paper entitled “Final Cut Pro X for Final Cut Pro 7 Editors” to detail the differences between the two apps and smooth the transition for professional users. Apple updated its Final Cut Pro X video editing software this morning with some much-needed improvements. It is a significant update, because Final Cut Pro X version 10.0.3 now appeases to pro editors with two new features, including multicam editing that automatically syncs up to 64 angles of video and photos, and broadcast monitoring....

A report on Fone Frenzy (who?) claims Verizon Wireless CEO, Lowell McAdam has visited Apple HQ “several times”, adding that Apple is testing a CDMA iPhone on the Verizon 4G LTE network. “The tests have been taking place for the last couple of months and but with no confirmation on the release date,” this report claims. A report on the report published on MacTouchUser also makes the claim that Apple and Verizon are testing a tablet prototype on the network, citing an old BusinessWeek article....

Like as it has done for some events in the past, Apple has pushed a WWDC app to Apple TV units overnight in order to access a live stream for today’s keynote. Apple is yet to announce whether or not the live stream will be available via desktop computer browser or iOS Devices like iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch. Apple is expected to announce iOS 7, OS X 10.9, and a streaming music service at this event....

After winning a pair of Daytime Emmy Awards earlier this week, Apple TV+ has now scored its first-ever Primetime Emmy nominations. The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced the nominations for the 72nd annual Emmy Awards this morning, and Apple TV+ received 18 nominations. Apple’s flagship original series The Morning Show received seven nominations. Jennifer Aniston was nominated in the “Best Actress in a Drama Series” category for her role as Alex Levy....

Apple’s vice president of special projects Paul Deneve has disappeared from the Apple executive bios page on Apple’s website. Deneve joined Apple in 2013 after serving as chief executive officer at fashion brand Saint Laurent. His removal from the biography signifies a change in management structure; Deneve now reports to Apple COO Jeff Williams rather than Tim Cook directly. Deneve is thought to have played a key role in the design and development of the Apple Watch....

As an avid (and currently livid) Mac Firefox user, I have to say that this is appalling to me.Why? Well 1st of all Firefox has made browsing on the Mac a much better experience ever since IE bowed out of the platform 5 years ago. A lot of sites are unable to render properly, if at all, on Safari and without Firefox, it would be a whole lot harder to be a Mac user....

Apple today has expanded its AppleCare+ accidental damage coverage to include the Mac lineup of products. While the company hasn’t yet acknowledged the change, the listing for AppleCare+ now inlcudes accidental damage for Macs. Similar to AppleCare+ for iPhone and iPad, each incident of accidental damage for Mac will carry its own price tag. Screen damage or “external enclosure damage” will run $99 per incident, while other damage, including water damage, will run $299....

As some developers are pushing Apple to reduce or even remove the App Store commission, the company has now alerted its investors that a potential change in App Store fees would affect its financial results. Bloomberg reported that the warning was sent to Apple investors in a regulatory filing this Friday. While Apple has been hit with a number of lawsuits recently, the company has now filed one of its own against a French activist group over an episode that occurred in an Apple Store in France. French publication The Local reports that Apple is suing Attac (the Association for the Taxation of Financial Transactions and Aid to Citizens) for the relatively small amount of €3,000 (about $3,600). This comes after 100 members of the group publicly protested Apple’s tax practices by occupying the Paris flagship Apple Store last month on December 2nd....
